AND HARDER TO FIND WITH SWEAT IN YOUR EYES!

6-30-08 UPDATE

Here is Hal's well cleared out  ravine
Ok.. Well it didn't start out as a  ravine, but he sure turned it into one!
See all those large rocks?? ALL those were totally under ground.
Just like the Waterfall Midden... Never know what you
are going to find in between all the rocks..
We are "below" a older midden .. Below the camp.
And .. Needless to say we are doing WONDERFUL!

Here is a better picture of the amount of work that has been done
Ohh.. and its better because I am in it ! heh

Hard to see because of the light from the sun.. But all these rocks
are wonderfully exposed.... NOW for the first time in THOUSANDS
of years! Mostly all white pieces .. Just washed down to the
lower areas below the old fire pits.

Lucky Hal never gave up on this place!

Here is our little show shot of the day! The dirty points on the
sides are what we found today..

This is a just a taste of the items that are coming out of this new dig.
its near the end of the day, and hal brought in the pile of
white items from the area to show them all together

I found a GORGEOUS "Marshal Perforator"  How KNOWS what they were
doing with this little beauty! Maybe piercing ears?? OUCHERS!
There also is my broken Montell Base Tang that I found today as well~!
WHatta HEARTBREAKER!

 

Ohhh.. Almost forgot .. I know that everyone is saving the
earth these days.. but hal sometimes takes things a little
to far..  THIS is what happens when you re-use
a proxide bottle for spare water!

CAN YOU EVEN SEE THIS BASE TANG THROUGH THE DIRT! SORRY, BUT WE DRANK ALL THE
WATER AND THERE WAS NONE TO CLEAN THE FINDS WITH!

THIS IS WHAT HAL CALLS HIS " BANANA POINT" ITS KIND OF LIKE THE
"COFFEE POINT" .. BUT LATER IN THE DAY.. CAN'T EAT THAT BANANA WITHOUT A COMPLETE FIND!

LOOK AT THIS GREAT LITTLE GOUGE THAT HAL FOUND AND REBURIED FOR ME TO FIND!
NEXT TIME MAKE IT A MONTELL HUH HALL! THANKS! I WILL KEEP THIS ONE THOUGH!

WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK THAT THIS BIG OLD ROCK WOULD BE LOOKED AT AS ART
PECKING A CHUNK OF THIS RAW FLINT INTO A BEAUTIFUL POINT...

HAL BROUGHT PROPS ... NUFF SAID

WHAT EVERY DIGGER NEEDS THESE DAYS! I WOULD BRING A REAL BAG IF I THOUGHT
IT WOULDN'T MELT ON THE TRIP ! THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT ADDITION
TO A HOT DAY! AND THE ICE CREAM TOO.. HAL .. YOU ARE A COLD TREAT TEASE!

HERE IS ANOTHER BANANA POINT - AND A HOLE THAT I WASN'T DIGGING.. JUST TAKING A PICTURE
NOW.. HOW WAS SOMEONE DIGGING IN HERE .. COMFORTABLY ?? WHO DIGS LIKE THIS??

HAL HAS THE BANANA POINT... I QUESS I AM THE SMART ONE.. WITH THE CARROT POINT!

EVER HEAR YOU CAN COOK A EGG ON A HOT SIDEWALK??? HOW ABOUT A 200DEG HEAD!

ITS NOT WORTH GETTING SICK OVER NOT HAVING ENOUGH WATER!

WE HAD A LITTLE FLINT AND EGG AND CHEESY PROP BREAK AT THE DIG
PERD NOLAN AND EGG FOR BREAKFAST WAS GREAT!
WE DUG THE MORNING ONLY - LEFT AT 11 AM... HAL GOT UP SO EARLY TO PICK
ME UP LOOKS LIKE HE EVEN FORGOT TO TAKE OFF HIS NIGHTY NIGHT BONNET
OHH AND THANKS AGAIN FOR THE WONDERFUL COLD AM BEER TOO HAL! GULP GULP!

MY CAT WAS VERY INTERESTED IN THE FINDS.. THAT IS WHY SHE IS TRYING TO CLAW HER WAY OUT OF
MY ARMS TO GET AWAY FROM THE OLD FELLA' WITH THE CAMERA!

White flint all around ! This is a shallow midden with the whitest flint you have ever seen
Probably 95 % of the stuff that hal is finding is burnt to a crisp! Enjoy!

Almost as white as my kitchen floor! God show Hal!

 And off to another midden we go !
Here is one that has been pretty much dug out.. But there are some things still to be found!
You have to have the time of a retired person, like HAL , to dig ALL day to get these out of the ground!

And off we go again.. to another shallow spot that Hal has been working on .
With work killing me and not wanting to sweat all day.. Hal is the only one that can "Take the Heat!"

OOPS .. But hay ! Check out my tomatoes! heh

HERE IS A CARRIAGE TAG FROM THE LAST 1800'S THAT HAL FOUND WHILE DIGGING!
