WATERFALL FIRE PITS

This area has really been a job for us for about 4 years now. We used to poke around now and again, finding
a crapper here and there that the last diggers missed years ago.
A very old dug out fire pit that was not only dozed.. But totally picked over many many MANY times. The field area was
dozed, the fire pit was gone.. Nothing left but ant mounds and water bottles. The site
was just to nice looking of a place to forget..  and boy are we glad that we didn't !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its probably the most beautiful fire pit in texas when it rains. The water flows down this rock wall face and its
the most wonderful waterfall I have ever seen in my life. It has this water fall and also has a year round running
fresh water spring coming right out of the base of this rock cliff , also a large rock shelter right by the spring. Its
just one of those places you have to see personally to know what I mean.

Here are some pictures from this area from the summer of 2006. This is also where HAL found
a wonderful Plainview.. Complete and Framed and hidden away in a pillowcase somewhere already I am sure!

Who would have known that this little BEAUTY would have fallen , between the cracks, as it were
This is Hal's pride and Joy - Hal's first  and only Clovis Point!!!

( Well, we thought that it would be the find of a lifetime for hal and it was until 1-29-07 when today he found
a complete ANDICE - Which that is a totally new story coming to a web page near you soon )

Here are some great Insitu shorts of a very nice, very well made Manos !  Can still see the hole it came out of!

Ok as the story goes.. After years of knowing about this place... It finally took a little more investigation and we hit the mother load!
The top area of the camp was beautiful, but none the less totally blown out by past diggers.

There were some VERY large boulders on the face of the cliff side going down to the springs.. You , as a a little indian
would have to walk through this pathway of large boulders to get to the water, to drink, clean, cook.
Investigating further, we started to dig in between the large boulders.. Found totally original dirt between each of the rocks.
When you look at the rocks , you see that they are VERY large, but there are cracks between them , spaces, walkways
some 3ft spaces between the boulders, and some narrow cracks only 1-2 foot between.. ALL OVERLOOKED!!!!

As you look at these pictures, remember that all these crack areas were totally full and packed to the
top with many feet, of fresh, untouched indian walked all over dirt! You can't get any luckier than that!

The camp with these large boulders on top of this big hillside must have been a wonderful place to sit!
The fire pits that were found were some smaller ones .. maybe a small winter camp.
All we know is we have enjoyed this area and sorry that it took years to discover its hidden treasures

The fern around the bottom of this camp are BEAUTIFUL! Wish the picture
came out better than this.. This area is really breathtaking when its warm out and at this
camp just walking around and seeing all this wonderful green around the bottem.

There still are a few rock shelters to this one, looked to be dug but not enough throw dirt around
to know if they were dug deep enough.. These areas , we will perhaps, get back to this summer. Hopefully this
summer we will go back and see if these areas were also missed or not done correctly
Who knows.. Maybe another Clovis in the mix??????????
